Forecasts tell you what the ocean might do. Trackers tell you what your body did. Between those two sits the only question a rider actually asks on the drive home — what did I learn from it?
None is tailored to your equipment and skills. Useful at 6am, useless at 9 — and once you're out of the water, nothing you learned that morning is written down anywhere.
Waves, speed, distance, calories. A tally is not a reading — and no number on the screen tells you why the fifth wave went wrong.
Voice notes and camera rolls are lossy and unsearchable. Next season, when you want to know how far you've come, there's nothing to help you improve.
Structure only — this section's copy gets a proper pass once the bones are agreed.
The data serves the feeling, never the other way round. Every report starts from what you said the session was like.
Thin data gets labelled as thin. We would rather say "we can't tell from this" than hand you a confident number we invented.
The best thing that can happen to a rider is a good coach. We make that relationship easier to keep, never cheaper to replace.
You are compared to your own last session and nothing else. Ranking riders against strangers makes worse surfers.
We do not judge you. Ever. When the data is thin the AI says so, rather than dressing a guess up as a verdict.
Your sessions are not a dataset we broker. Mark a spot secret and it is redacted everywhere — maps, reports, the AI's own input.
We make the handover between lessons easier. The judgement stays human — theirs, and yours.
No matter your experience, OceanLog makes it easy to start fresh or bring over the log you already keep — digital or paper. Log a session in four taps, share it with your friends and your coach, generate a report, and have all of it synced across your devices, with automatic and manual back-ups for those adventures with very limited internet connection.
Works offline — log now, sync when you're back in range
Import your old log: spreadsheet, another app, or typed up from the notebook
Manual back-up on demand, automatic back-up in the background
Share a single session or a whole season — and unshare it just as fast
GDPR, in full. We process your sessions under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 — lawful basis stated, purpose limited to running your logbook, and data minimised to what a session actually needs.
Stored in the EU. Your data sits on servers inside the European Union, encrypted in transit and at rest.
Yours to take (Art. 20). Export every session, report and photo in a readable format, whenever you like — no ransom for leaving.
Yours to delete (Art. 17). Delete a session or the whole account and it goes — including from back-ups, on a stated schedule.
Consent, not assumption (Art. 6–7). Coach and friend sharing is opt-in per person, revocable in one tap, and logged so you can see who saw what. Riders under 18 need a guardian's consent.
Never sold. No ad networks, no data brokers, no third-party trackers in the app. Secret spots are excluded from every public count and map.
European Data Protection is included on every plan, free ones too. It isn't a feature we sell you.
Nothing you log is public unless you make it so. Sharing is a decision you take per person, per session — and you can take it back.
Mark a spot secret and it's redacted everywhere the report goes — hidden from your coaches and your friends as well, not just from the public map and the counts. The reading still works; the location simply isn't in it.
Log the crew, not just the waves — who was out with you, and who was coaching. Names are yours to add and yours to remove, and they're never shown to anyone you haven't shared that session with.
One coach at home, another on a trip, a kite instructor for the winter — share with all of them if it helps, each seeing only what you grant them. Revoke any one of them in a tap, without touching the rest.
“The tools either forecast the ocean or count your waves. None of them helped me understand the session I'd just had — so I made the one I wanted.”
Aviation spent fifty years learning to debrief without blame. That is the idea underneath all of this — a read, not a ranking.
